My Restorative Somatic style of Yin Yoga is a deliciously slow practice involving many poses on the ground surrounded by bolsters, cushion and blocks, in a lying, sitting or kneeling position.
Great attention is placed on being mindful and aware of your breath, while your body is draped in to various supported positions to allow gravity and time to slowly open up tight places of tension, while allowing the bodies connective tissues to release. The fascia and ligaments are targeted often providing great relief and an overwhelming feeling of calm as the parasympathetic nervous system is stimulated and stress hormones reduced.
I like to think of myself as a Panda Bear when practicing Yin Yoga. We spend most of the time lying or seated on the floor draped over bolsters and breathing.
Holding poses longer and infusing more space in to the body and mind with breath and presence is an amazing tonic to our normal state of stress and ongoing busyness.
My classes are for anybody and everybody. We start exactly where you are which is the perfect place to be.
